MY COUNTRY OH...COUNTRY

Have ever in your life you come across a moment when you feel you are not wanted or as if you don't exist.I'll be honest i had this feeling for the first time in my life of not being wanted and its not by my loved ones, its my country.I always had this belief that no country is perfect you just have to work for it,but recent moves of the government to go ahead with almost 50% reservations in the premier institues like the IIT'S,IIM'S have shaken my thought process completely.WHERE ARE WE HEADING TOWARDS? And the answer gives me gitters. In an era where the world is hailing the arrival of new India, with its force of talanted young minds, our own people are building walls just to satisfy their own narrow motives of vote bank politics. And what hurts me even more is not even a single voice from any political leader challenging this disatarous moves.Have these politicians ever been to an IIT...do they really know what it takes to survive in these institutes. Even the best finds it difficult. But then this move was never well thought of ,like most in our democratic system.
Today i am reminded of a quote and to my own surprise it a quote of our own independence struggle. "WHEN THIEVES ENTER YOUR HOMES AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE THEM OUT THEN SHUT THEM UP AND BURN THEM ALIVE".Yes we are literaly being burnt alive. In our own country we have become unwanted,a satyagrah has been launched by our political elite to throw us out of the main stream. We have become a target not because of what we do just because we belong to a family which cannot influence the out come of elections. No young mind should ever dream to be in IIT or IIM because he does not matter sorry his vote dosen't matter.I am not against giving oppurtunities to the needy but should it come at the cost of someone's dream. Now it's only dreams which are left and one must remember dreams don't come true.

  3. so, old ghosts have come to haunt us again after 14 years. ya the same crappy talk about the so called affirmative action, dis-adavantaged groups, advantaged groups, brilliant minds fleeing the courntry, political ends, social ends...
well if you are on the road with no job, it doesnt matter which so called class u belong to. you are as advantaged or disadvantaged as any person on the earth.
and by raking up this issue, the centuries old caste divisions would be deepened like anything. the blow due to this to the nation, would be a knock out one, from which it wouldnt be able to recover.
a state where from which class you came from did not matter, what you did mattered, your region, religion or caste was just yours, not a battleground for votebank hungry politics, is the the one we should all strive for. removing barriers rather than reinforcing them is the way forward.

well written...i think u have expressed what most of us feel perfectly..
on one side we have president and others giving speech and saying India is all great and students should stay here that we shud do something for the country (and i used to agree with that). but this is wat they are doing for votes...they are gonna push out more people away from india...and only reserved category students will be studying engineering from now onwards.
and IIT, currently ranked second in the world, the pride of india, is definitely gonna end up in an extremely bad position.

can nothing be done about this???

  12. hey, nice post!
its ironic isnt it that the state which shud work towards eliminating caste based politics is actually dividing the society and this happens when we are close to celebrating 60 yrs of independence! i wonder what will these politicians stop at??????
