BLACK OR RANG DE BASANTI

Movies hardly have ever captured my imagination, but in recent times I have seen movies which have touched my soul. And none more than BLACK & RANG DE BASANTI. Two absolute masterpieces in everyright. One a passion and a dream of a girl whose world is black and other an awakening for the youth of INDIA. But what does these movies depict a mindset or much more. This is my observation of what I thought of the two movies. Black a movie so dark with so much pain, a story which touches your heart yet there is so much light so much hope if you look deep. A story of triumph over all odds, a struggle to do what you once dreamt off. The most striking feature about BLACK is no where in the movie you feel this sense of hope, but when you sit alone and think of what you saw you will feel this light in your heart. It makes you a believer, a believer that nothing is impossible. There is so much passion in the girl that it makes you sit up and take notice. But what about RANG DE BASANTI, movie which makes you laugh and cry and more importantly makes you think. A movie with a message to stand up and fight for what you feel is right. So much hope so much life. But is it really the case, I don't think so. I feel the movie depicts a defeatist mindset that nothing can be done unless you pick up the gun. Is this the hope or the national awaking we want the youth of INDIA. Killing an individual is a desperate step not revolutionary, and people who feels this depicts a sense of victory, I tend to disagree. It's an amazing movie no doubt about it, but if I have to give a message my message would be BLACK not RANG DE BASANTI.

  1. kya baat hai...cool template...cool posts...kuch toh hua hai...
waise i tend 2 disagree with yr choice...it would be RDB 4 me...jst because 2 awaken a generation wich in pink floyds words is comfortably numb, which being in its own world has become disconnected from da ground realities...u need smthing hardhitting...smthing wich would awaken them or us from our usual existance...n RDB DESPITE THE METHODS EMPLOYED does jst dat in a wonderful manner...
its said its tougher 2 make ppl laugh than 2 make them cry...bt 2 make them cry jst while there were laughing the previous minute is well...outstanding...n RDB does jst dat..n more...

  2. hardhitting yes...but isn't it a pesimistic way of doing things ...one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist..and encouraging violent methods for reaching to ur goal for me is not done..so that's why i can't find hope in the movie

  3. why even compare the two?????
but yes RDB seemed so misguided and i found it inherently flawed! -------my perspective. i guess the movie was made with the best of intentions and had its moments but at the end of it all the "awakening" dint really seem like "awakening"!

  4. Hey I tend to agree with you as far as RDB goes. I mean I liked the 1st half because it makes you laugh like crazy....but as you say the 2nd half has a defeatist attitude and not revolutionary one.

And I am yet to see Black so :( can't really comment on that!

  5. it is good, the way you put across your views..
the common link in both the movies is that they give us hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel... and that u have to fight to keep alive that hope and turn in into raleity..

  6. ahem ahem...so here i come with my extreme sentimental views ;-)

i tend to disagree with the image u have put up about RDB!
one i think sid is right this is hard hitting, go out and search movies which give hope and u will find atleast 100 movies that can give BLACK a run for its money in the hope department!
second its all in the nature of perception that you have about RDB anyone who wants to be awakened will know that RDB is not the way to do things but only a rash call to wake up and do something, you cant show a civilised legal or say a silent intellectual fight on screen; it would be dud u need a BANG to get such a message across!
third these two movies are far apart from each other...there is no comparison, both have different setups; Black can inspire a person to fight against the odds of his life not to fight the system for common good!!

but u see as said before its ll in the interpretation...BLACK is hope...u can mend it to ur situations and mindsets
RDB is rash and hard itting trying to nail down just one...yup just one point...dont look at it from the angle of what it might make ppl do, rest....ppl wont turn to violence, anyone doing so will be crushed before he rises!!

N hey!!! cool template much better than previous one...that was kinda BUDDHA :-D
